A Taste of Presence

This workshop explores ways to connect with our source energy, where unconditional love and peace already reside within us. It is designed to help you reduce ways that you react from a place of anxiety, anger, sadness, frustration, stress, and shame. These emotions are of the lowest energy frequencies, and they block and disrupt the natural flow of our source energy, of love. They can distract us from how we really want to act as people and negatively affect our relationships, our work, our creativeness, our ability to play and have fun.
Together, we will learn ways to cultivate greater presence so that we can respond to life from a place of intention, rather than reactivity. Participants will develop a beginning meditation and mindfulness practice and get a taste of the life-changing impact of the ability to be fully present. Activities include engaging meditative practices, journaling and self-reflection, gentle movement, ancient rituals, body-centered therapeutic techniques, and conceptual lessons.
We will be delving into the wilderness within us through the path of mindful practice. The act of being present is simply a way of maintaining a higher level of awareness in our daily life action and thoughts. This practice may take place while walking, eating, or sitting. Presence in our daily actions is strengthened through more formal instruction in the contemplative practices of meditation and ritual, and insights gained through these experiences will be integrated through deep, genuine conversation and self-reflection.
Our intention of this workshop is to practice presence from our first greetings through our final moment of departure. Rather than limiting our contemplative practice to the meditation cushion, the practice of presence can infuse all our daily actions with a higher consciousness and intention. We hope to explore such approaches to allow for personal exploration, a calming of our intellectual minds, and opening ourselves to being fully present with others and the natural world.
It’s not the techniques that are the focus of this workshop, but lessons about the process of prioritizing your healing and taking the time to care for yourself and reflect on your own personal journey. The aim is to support participants to become mindful to their creative processes while immersed in the beauty of Waddell Beach. We will encourage you to reach down deep and find your own muse, empowering you to connect with your own unique message. You will also be nourished with a delicious lunch tailored to your dietary needs.
Participants will also have the option to engage in individual 10-minute sessions of both Healing Touch and Emotional Freedom Technique. Healing Touch is a holistic approach to health and healing that can assist in bringing the body to its natural ability to heal itself. This is a gentle energy-based therapy in which practitioners consciously use their hands in a heart-centered and intentional way to support and facilitate physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health and healing. The healing traditions of many cultures, as well as Dr. Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and Science of Caring, emphasize the importance of human touch, compassion, healing through intention, and the subtle energy systems that flow through and around the human body. Many of these traditions stress that balancing these energy fields can assist the body, mind, and spirit in moving towards and maintaining peace and wellness. In addition to private practice, this non-invasive care is provided in many hospital and research settings to support individuals through the health care continuum.
Emotional Freedom Technique is a revolutionary treatment method that offers healing from physical and emotional pain and disease. Similar to acupuncture, it uses the fingertips to stimulate energy points on the body to clear the disruptions in the energy systems. The practitioner taps on acupressure meridians to release blockages. When these blockages are released, the problem feeling can be released and move through the body. The process starts with a beginning statement of what the problem feeling is and includes complete acceptance and acknowledgement. EFT is a very effective way of clearing out feelings, and when an unwanted feeling is gone, the limiting beliefs that were held are released, and new, more positive beliefs can emerge.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
All participants must be 18 years or older or be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There is a public parking lot where we will meet before walking down to the sand and water.
What to bring into the event?
Layers-sweaters, jackets, hats, blankets
Cushion, yoga mat, or beach chair if desired
Something to write with
We will have some extra supplies, but please be sure to bring what you need to have the most comfortable day possible for yourself. We will be outside on the beach for several hours.

We encourage you to take a day to be fully present with yourself without the distraction of technology. You are asked to leave phones off and put away during the day, but of course please use your own discretion if family or friends need to contact you.
Weather and Dress

We will do our best to prepare you for this adventure, but remember, things are always subject to change and weather can fluctuate. We expect the weather to be in the low 70s with some wind, but weather at this time of year can sometimes be unpredictable.
Please dress in layers so that you can be as comfortable as possible during the day. Please wear something in which you can move freely.

Alcohol and Drug Use
To create a safe and supportive environment for all participants, illegal drug use and outside alcohol is prohibited at this workshop. We want to cultivate presence which becomes difficult when under the influence.

I also work extensively with clients experiencing pregnancy or infertility, trauma, eating disorders, body-image disturbances, and mood disorders. I utilize a holistic approach to healing work and employ a combination of therapeutic techniques that include traditional talk therapy, EFT, meditation, energy healing, sand play, inner child work, movement, and expressive arts.
